Discovery Meeting
The complimentary discovery meeting is a vital first step in understanding a veterinary practice’s operations and challenges and the owner’s professional and personal goals. Unlike traditional CPA consultations that focus solely on accounting and tax needs, this meeting delves deeper into the practice’s history, pain points, and owner’s motivations. By exploring areas such as cash flow issues, debt management, staffing challenges, and work-life balance struggles, I help identify underlying problems that may not be immediately evident. This holistic approach acknowledges how personal and business factors intertwine, recognizing that unresolved business stress can spill into personal well-being. The goal is to uncover opportunities for improvement and begin forming a strategy to help the practice run more smoothly and sustainably, freeing owners to focus on both their work and personal fulfillment.
This meeting is also a two-way assessment to determine if there’s a good fit between the advisor and the practice owner. I prioritize working with clients who are open to change and collaboration, as co-creating solutions leads to better outcomes than a one-size-fits-all approach. If both parties agree to move forward, an engagement letter outlines the scope of the assessment and associated fees. From there, we develop a detailed Report of Recommendations and, if desired, work together to implement strategies that improve efficiency and profitability. The ultimate goal is to help veterinary practice owners build a business that supports their long-term goals and personal well-being, transforming the practice into a self-sustaining enterprise that serves its owners, not the other way around.
After the discovery meeting and the decision to move forward, we will move into planning and assessment.
